These shoes are AMAZING!
I bought these shoes on a whim when they were 30% off, half because I loved the look of them and figured even if they didn't work out for running, I would still wear them casually, and the other half because I was super curious to try a Puma running shoe after the seemingly recent rise in # of Puma elite runners placing top 3 in big races. I look for a neutral, max cushioned shoe with a nice bounce or energy return. I go-to's for the past year+ have been the Saucony Triumph 20s, which are amazing. I recently have also tried the Brooks Ghost MAX which are also pretty sweet but seem to feel a little dead at the end of a long run, for lack of better words, and I will keep those for 10Ks or less. I broke my Deviate Nitro 2s in on a 3 and 4 mile run, and then took them out for a 10 miler in just my 3 time running in the shoe, which I knew was somewhat of a risk but man did they perform!!! The energy return on these are amazing and they really helped my legs stay fresh and my pace consistent! I have constantly had issues with shoes giving me blisters on the sides of my bunion-area over the years, and even though these shoes are slightly narrow compared to my Saucony and Brooks, I had no issues at all with any foot pain, hot spots, or blisters (once you wear them a couple of times and break them in, they don't feel narrow anymore). Time will tell how these hold up but for now I am loving them and considering wearing them in the half marathon I am training for in a 1 week. A great addition to anyone wanting to add to their neutral, cushioned shoe rotation! Only downside is limited color choices, but I don't think the ones that are available are bad...love the bright/bold colors! Hopefully as Puma grows in the running scene more colors and options will become available :)
